Bachelor of Arts-3 Year Program

Athabasca University’s Psychology program is designed to develop or expand the student’s knowledge in the broad field of psychology.  Both the concentration and major degree programs will provide grounding in foundational courses central to psychology as a science.

Admission Requirements:

Candidates are required to satisfactorily complete the Accuplacer testing.

3-Year B.A. with a Concentration  in Psychology

While the three year degree program is not geared to provide you with direct access to graduate-level studies, it is a highly marketable credential.  The degree will be awarded from Athabasca University.

Program Structure – Total Program Credits – 90 credits

Minimum Credits Required *

  • 54 credits in the senior (300 or 400 level)
  • 36 in the concentration
  • 24 Senior-level credits in the concentration
  • 66 credits in Arts (Humanities and Social Science)
    • 12 Humanities
    • 12 Social Science
  • 6 Science

Maximum Credits Allowed *

  • 45 In any one discipline
  • 24 Applied Studies and/or Science
  • 36 At the junior (200) level
  • 6 At the preparatory (100) level
  • 15 At the junior level in one discipline
  • 6* Maximum Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition (PLAR) credits *A maximum of 30 PLAR credits is allowed if you choose the Labour Studies Concentration
  • 30 Residency requirements, a minimum through Athabasca University
  • 24 Graduation with Distinction or Great Distinction, obtained through Athabasca University in order to be considered.
