The theme of the conference, Indigenous Thought and Being, is about celebrating Indigenous peoples’ reclamation of their own systems and knowledge and Indigenous thought regarding present day issues. We will explore a number of sub-themes including Indigenous Knowledge, Health and Well-Being, Education, Literacy, and, interweaving all of these, iyiniw isihcikewin – Ceremony, Culture, and Ways of Being.

The Council of the Federation Literacy Award recognizes outstanding achievement, innovative practice and excellence in literacy. Thirteen awards are presented annually, one for each province and territory, to recognize the excellence of educators, volunteers, learners, community organizations and businesses in many areas, including family, Aboriginal, health, workplace and community literacy.

Bachelor of Arts in Dene

New This Fall – 2016

Blue Quills is launching the very first Bachelor of Arts in Dene Language.This 3 year program focuses on developing students’ level of fluency and literacy, while grounding students in ancestral knowledge and skills, as well as in the Dene grammar and second language acquisition methods. Graduates from this program will be prepared to work in classrooms and support language revitalization initiatives in their territories.
